On September 21, a trucker driving on I-65 pulled over to help a pickup truck that was flipped in the median. According to WKRN, when the good Samaritan got out to see if anyone was hurt in the accident, a man jumped in his big rig and took off.
When police asked the trucker what happened, he said, “Let me see if it is kids or if someone is injured. It was a bad choice, a very bad choice.” Police then warned the public to be on the lookout for the stolen big rig.
They discovered that the flipped truck was full of rifle shells, and suspected the rifle may have been with the suspect. The trucker also notified them that a loaded gun was hidden in the back of the stolen semi.
The driver, 32-year-old Jamie Edmondson, was spotted on I-65 North in Tennessee swerving between the right lane and shoulder. Police stopped him, and he exited the cab with his hands in the air. Armed officers arrested him while the semi rolled across four lanes of traffic into the wall.
The trucker was relived to find his truck in tact, and firearm secured behind the driver’s seat.
Edmonson was placed in Maury County Jail and is charged with stealing the semi, among other crimes.
