RECALL: Kenworths, Volvos, and Macks Oh My!

Almost 5,700 trucks were recalled this week due to various safety issues.

According to Truckers News, Volvo and Mack trucks are being recalled for issues with speed control. The affected trucks have engines that don’t idle after 2 seconds of the accelerator petal position disconnects. This can lead to the driver losing control of the vehicle and increasing the likelihood of an accident. 1,000 of Volvo’s 2023-24 VNL trucks were recalled, as were over 850 of Mack’s 2023-24 Anthem, Granite, LR, and TerraPro trucks.

Truckers News also reported that 15 models of Kenworth trucks are also being recalled. Kegworth T800 and W900 trucks from 2018-2024 are affected, as well as the 2020 Kenworth T660.  These trucks have an extra spacer between the seat belt tether and buckle, which causes a safety issue. If the affected trucks are in a crash, this extra space may not properly protect the driver.

All companies with this week’s recalls stated that truck owners will receive letters with more details within the next couple months.
