Startling footage of an 18-wheeler toppling over an overpass onto another accident was posted online this week.
Cars, trucks, and vehicles of all kinds were slipping and sliding in Santa Clarita, California over the weekend. As nonstop rain poured down on the highways, road conditions became hazardous and caused three accidents. According to ABC7, these crashes all occurred within hours of each other at the interchange between the 14 and 5 Freeways.
The third incident was easily the most shocking. While a bystander was recording footage of an accident, a semi-truck driving up the freeway tumbled over the ramp and fell on top the scene of the crash. One 18-wheeler was already overturned and several other vehicles were involved in the original accident. The falling semi was just the cherry on top of a disaster sundae.
Tommy Dorado, the driver who filmed the accident, told ABC7 that he was in shock when the truck fell. “I was in disbelief. I honestly couldn’t believe I was witnessing something like that firsthand,” he said. He was also concerned for the first responders who were at the scene, but luckily none of them were harmed. However, two other people were taken to the hospital after the incident and one other was already transported from the first accident.
