A recent study conducted by Trucking Moves America Forward (TMAF) researched Americans’ awareness and opinions about the trucking industry. A few key points of interest in the study were industry perception, the role in America’s economy, and safety record.
The responses from TMAF’s survey show that public perception of the trucking industry is at an all time high. 87% of participants in the study said that they have a “favorable impression” of the industry. In addition, 97% responded by saying truckers play a “very important” role in America’s economy. When asked about truckers’ driving safety, 72% said their record is “excellent or good.” As shown in TMAF’s graph below, all of these new responses are greater than or equal to those from the 2019 survey.
Later in the survey, participants were asked about the truckers’ professionalism and safety on the road. In response, 85% think truck drivers are professional and 78% said that truckers are generally safer and show more care for safety on the road than other motorists.
