Florida Highway Patrol is on the hunt for a tire slasher on the loose.
According to Ocala News, six instances of slashed tires were recently reported in Columbia County. Police stated that the slasher’s victims are all semis that were parked overnight along Interstate 75 at the U.S. 90, State Road 47, and U.S. 41/441 exits. The big rigs were parked along the entrances and exit ramps when the slasher attacked their tires.
The strikes were made under the cover of night, leaving little chance for the slasher to be seen. However, one of the victims was able to capture a few surveillance images of a potential suspect on their security camera.

WCJB caught up with semi driver Tahj Lawrence to get a trucker’s perspective on these crimes. “That’s one more thing you got to worry about. You already got to worry about somebody breaking in your truck and different stuff like that,” he said. Some of these guys sleep in their truck . . . imagine you’re sleeping in your truck and somebody slashes your tires. What are you supposed to do?”
Florida Highway Patrol is on the case, investigating who could be behind these crimes. FHP asks anyone who may have helpful information to call 1-800-387-1290.
