Trucker Escapes Burning Semi Through Window

A spontaneous fire forced a trucker to dive out his passenger window to avoid being burned.

According to WKOW, a semi truck parked at a Kwik Trip in Verona, Wisconsin burst into flames on September 25. The truck reportedly had a mechanical issue that forced the driver to pull off and stop. Soon after, the trucker realized a fire broke out and tried to escape the cab. The bad situation got worse when the driver’s door wouldn’t open, and he was forced to escape the cab through the passenger side window.

A Kwip Trip employee was witness to the scene and said the driver was “shaken, as anybody would be.” The jump from the window slightly injured the trucker, scraping his leg. Even with the minor leg injury, that’s better than burning in the truck fire.

The Verona Fire Department responded to the incident quickly and was able to quell the flames before they spread to the trailer full of cardboard. Firefighters said the cab was completely burned, but the load was unharmed.
