When a life was in danger, these truckers didn’t hesitate to band together in a remarkable act of solidarity.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, police were notified of a suicidal man on an overpass around 1 a.m. Once the situation became known, truckers began to appear on I-696 and park underneath the bridge. This coordinated effort was to shorten the man’s fall, if he jumped. A total of 13 truckers lined up, covering both sides of the highway.

“The photo makes us so proud and shows quick thinking. It also shows how our industry works with law enforcement to keep our highways safe and the quality of people we have driving,” ATA spokesperson Sean McNally told the Detroit News.
The situation ended when the man willingly walked away from the bridge, choosing not to jump. After 3 hours of negotiating back and forth, authorities took him to the hospital.
