“Nothing short of a miracle,” was how authorities described the aftermath of this dangerous accident. The shocking footage from the distracted driver’s dashcam has viewers jumping in their seats at the moment of impact.
According to Fox 8, the crash happened on April 7 in West Branch, Iowa. In the clip, viewers can see the road on the left and the driver on the right. As the driver barrels down a dark highway, it can be seen that his focus is torn between the road and something in his lap below the dash. As he looks away, he quickly comes up on a semi stopped on the road. The driver slams head-on into it, and the video goes dark.

Luckily, officials reported that both drivers only suffered mild injuries.
The Iowa Department of Transportation shared the video on Facebook to advise drivers to be aware of their surroundings on the road. Their post reads, “We preach to not drive distracted. We preach that you need to pay attention to the road. We preach that you never know what may pop up in front of you on the road.”
