WATCH: Trucker Boasts “Epic” Recovery on Black Ice

The sense of panic when your truck swerves on a patch of ice is a feeling many drivers know all too well.

Instead of panicking, this trucker buckled down and pulled off an impressive save on a patch of black ice. A driver known as u/sko_tina on Reddit posted a dashcam clip of themselves avoiding disaster with some slick maneuvering.

Watch the clip below:

In the description of the video, the driver revealed they were driving a 2022 Cascadia with an empty trailer. Near the end of the 25 second clip, viewers can see another semi jackknifed up ahead.

In the comments, other truckers chimed in to applaud the driver’s finesse. “Nice recovery, hitting black ice is both surreal and an immediate adrenaline shot. It’s always the curves and overpasses/bridges that will get you,” said one user. In response, another added, “I’ve gotten into the habit of letting off the throttle at bridges. You won’t spin out as easily if there is hardly any torque going to the drives.”

Another user joked, “Hopefully you were able to pull over safely and get a new pair of underwear.”

In all seriousness, driving on black ice is no laughing matter in the moment. In the upcoming winter months be careful and stay safe out there, drivers!
