WATCH: Turtle Causes Traffic Trouble

No turtles were harmed in this dangerous highway accident.

According to Fox News, a multi-vehicle crash happened this week due to a turtle crossing on an active highway. The accident happened in Walton County, Florida on May 16 on US Route 331. Dashcam from a trucker shows the whole incident unfold.

In the footage, the 18-wheeler is driving steadily in the right lane when some traffic starts to accumulate ahead. Before the semi can react, a 4-wheeler in the left lane swerves in front of it. The big rig tries to avoid the car, but they end up colliding as the trucker slams on the brakes. Momentum carries the two vehicles forward and hits a pickup truck that is stopped in the left lane. The semi finally comes to a stop in the grassy median. The video was posted on Facebook by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

Watch the video below:

On Facebook, the Sheriff’s Office said, “We don’t advise causing a road obstruction because of a reptilian obstruction … While no ill intentions were meant, trying to avoid or assist an animal who has made its way onto a busy road can cause you or other drivers life-threatening injuries.”

Thankfully, no one was injured in the accident and the turtle was safely relocated off the highway.
