Ice Road Truckers Returns After 8-Year Hiatus

Ice Road Truckers Returns After 8-Year Hiatus! Lisa Kelly and Todd Dewey are back, with some new faces joining the mix too.

After eight years off the air, Ice Road Truckers is making a grand return. According to Collider, Season 12 drops October 1, 2025, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on the History Channel. This new season promises to bring back familiar faces and introduce new drivers who will battle the icy roads of Northern Canada. The stakes have never been higher, with shorter winters, tighter delivery deadlines, and life-or-death risks for every load. For fans and truckers alike, the long wait is over… the ice roads are back.

The original series, which ran from 2007 to 2017, built a devoted following by showing just how brutal life can get behind the wheel when the asphalt is replaced by sheets of ice. Over 11 seasons, viewers watched drivers tackle routes in some of the most remote and hostile environments in Canada and Alaska. Now, as Eli Lehrer, Executive VP and Head of Programming for the History Channel, explained, this new season ushers in “a new era of storytelling for the series that infuses fresh energy and new challenges while honoring its rich legacy.”

Season 12 will feature a mix of veteran drivers and rookies determined to prove themselves on the ice. Fan favorites Lisa Kelly and Todd Dewey return to the show, bringing years of experience and grit. They’ll be joined by newcomer Scooter Yuill, running for Muskie Creek — a fierce winter trucking company with the motto “leave no load behind.” At the helm of Muskie Creek is fiery operations manager Bill Danh, who expects nothing less than perfection. Meanwhile, to the west, veteran driver Shaun Harris and his sons, Riley and Zach, will push into new territory under the Harris & Sons Transportation name, with hopes of building experience for the next generation.

Of course, not everything will be the same. This season marks the first without Alex Debogorski, the only driver to appear in all 11 seasons of the show. His presence defined the original run, and while his absence is noticeable, the new cast lineup signals a fresh start. Other former stars like Art Burke, Steph Custance, and Reno Ward will also not return this season, shifting the focus squarely onto the new mix of veterans and rookies.

The teaser trailer gives fans a taste of what’s to come: semis barreling across cracking ice, tense standoffs with nature, and drivers reminding viewers just how dangerous this job really is. As Todd Dewey puts it in the trailer, “There’s no margin for error. It’s life and death up here.” With frozen lifelines connecting isolated communities, these drivers know that every successful haul keeps food, fuel, and supplies flowing where they’re needed most.
