Bobtail Wipeout: Rain Sends Semi Sliding Into Big Rig!
A terrifying moment on a rainy Tennessee highway was caught on camera Friday morning when a gray bobtail semi lost control and hydroplaned directly into a white tractor-trailer, forcing the second truck off the road.
According to Traffic Cam Watch, who shared the viral footage, the incident occurred June 7th at 10:31 a.m. on I-55 Southbound in Shelby County, Tennessee.
In the video, a gray semi is seen bobtailing when it suddenly hydroplanes across the slick highway, veering sideways before colliding hard into the right side of a white tractor-trailer in the next lane. The impact shoves the white semi off the highway shoulder and into the grass. Exact conditions of both drivers have not yet been confirmed by authorities, but in the video it appears the driver of the white truck was helped up the embankment by those who stopped to check on him.

The crash serves as another reminder of the dangers truckers face in wet weather conditions, especially when bobtailing. Without the weight of a trailer, bobtail semis are far more susceptible to losing traction on slick roads — something many drivers know all too well.
Stay safe out there, drivers.
