Ever wonder what it looks like to use one of those runaway ramps?
If you’ve been driving long enough, you’ve definitely passed by those steep runaway truck ramps. A video making the rounds on Reddit shows exactly what it looks like when a driver actually does.
The clip comes from dashcam footage as a semi barrels downhill with no brakes. It’s not clear what caused the failure, but the truck is clearly moving fast, and the driver has to make a quick call. From there, viewers get a drivers-seat view of what those ramps are built for. The truck hits the gravel bed and starts digging in, slowing hard but staying controlled. The rig bounces and shakes as it plows down the ramp, but the driver keeps it straight and upright the whole way until it finally comes to a stop.

Hopefully you never have to use one of these on your runs… but now you’ve seen what it looks like if it happens.
