President Trump Slams Electric Semis

“What they’re doing with our trucking industry is a disaster.”

A recent NBC Meet the Press interview revealed what former President Donald Trump thinks about electric vehicles and electric trucking. When NBC journalist Kristen Welker sat down with the 45th president, he voiced his disapproval. He cited price and distance between charges as major drawbacks with EVs.

Another grievance the former president has electric vehicles is where they’re manufactured. “The auto workers are not going to have any jobs when you come right down to it, because if you take a look at what they’re doing with electric cars, electric cars are going to be made in China . . . . The auto workers will not have any jobs, Kristen, because the — all of these cars are going to be made in China. The electric cars, automatically, are going to be made in China.”

The conversation eventually shifted to the trucking industry. “What they’re doing with our trucking industry is a disaster, because they want all electric trucks. And a truck on a — with a large tank, large gasoline or diesel capacity, can go up to 2,000 miles. An electric truck goes 300 miles. So, what are these guys going to do? They’re going to, they’re going to stop every 300 miles and recharge their truck and spend three hours?”
