A routine drive for this trucker turned into a shocking spectacle when he drove right past a train derailment. The incident happened near the Arizona/New Mexico border. In the blink of an eye, the tranquil western landscape was suddenly disrupted by a cloud of dust and smoke billowing into the air, turning into a fiery explosion. His dashcam captured the whole scene and he uploaded the video to r/Truckers.

USA Today reported that the derailment caused a 50-mile closure of Interstate 40. According to their report, the derailed train was a BNSF freight train hauling propane. Thirty-five train cars went off the rails in the incident. Individuals within 2 miles of the crash site were evacuated in an abundance of caution, though no injuries were reported and no one was harmed. The closure lasted about a day before traffic resumed on I-40.
The intensity of the blaze and the sheer magnitude of the wreckage captured in the video serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of life on the road. You just never know what you’re going to see when you hit the road.
