According to Daily Mail, a devastating incident occurred on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge in Groton, Connecticut, when a fuel tanker was struck from behind by a car that had a tire blowout. The impact caused the tanker to overturn, resulting in a massive explosion that tragically claimed the life of the driver. The severity of the situation forced Connecticut State Police to close I-95.
Authorities stated that the overturned tanker was hauling 22,000 gallons of fuel, which caused the fiery inferno on the highway. Buildings below the bridge reportedly caught fire as well, causing injuries.
