Now here’s something you don’t see every day.
Drivers on I-264 witnessed an unexpected hazard when a horse broke free after a crash involving a horse trailer and started galloping down the highway.
According to WHAS11, the incident happened June 22 in Louisville, Kentucky. According to reports, a semi cab and a trailer hauling horses were involved in a crash. During the accident, a horse escaped from the trailer and took off running along the expressway while stunned drivers watched it weave through traffic.
Video from the scene shows the horse sprinting down the interstate before eventually making its way into the grassy area near an exit ramp. Police shut down lanes while officers and several Good Samaritans worked to safely corral the animal before it wandered back into traffic.

Two bystanders managed to help capture the horse using nothing more than a purse strap and a belt until additional help arrived. Both escaped horses were eventually secured, and officials said they appeared to be doing well.
Fortunately, no other crashes involving the loose horse were reported, and the roadway was eventually reopened once the situation was under control. The driver involved in the original crash was also reported to be okay.
