Why Did This Angry Driver Brake Check a Semi?

A foolish dashcam video out of Charlotte has truckers shaking their heads after a driver repeatedly brake checked a semi on the highway.

The footage was recorded on May 15 and posted on r/Truckers by u/Adrian_985. It starts with a semi traveling in one of the middle lanes of a busy four-lane highway. Things look normal at first, until a black Acura merges from an on-ramp directly in front of the truck.

Almost immediately after getting in front of the semi, the Acura slams on the brakes. The driver then sticks an arm out the window and appears to gesture angrily toward the trucker, even though the semi had simply been continuing down the highway. From there, the situation only gets worse.

Trying to avoid the confrontation, the truck driver moves over into the right lane, but the Acura quickly cuts back in front of the semi again and continues brake checking it. At several points in the video, the car gets dangerously close to the front bumper of the truck, leaving almost no room for reaction time.

The scariest moment comes when the semi attempts to move toward the shoulder to create space and avoid contact. Instead of backing off, the Acura swerves over again and gets directly in front of the truck there too, continuing the aggressive behavior.

An alternate camera angle shared with the footage shows just how little room there was between the Acura and the front of the semi during the incident. Thankfully, no crash occurred, and by the end of the clip, the car finally speeds off and resumes normal driving.

Truckers online were quick to point out how dangerous the situation was, especially considering the size and stopping distance of a loaded semi. One wrong move from either driver could have turned the entire highway into a disaster scene.

“I do not understand why anyone would do this,” wrote one viewer. “In my opinion, if you brake check a semi then you deserve to get hit. No points or fine for semi driver and shitty driver has to pay for everything,” commented another.
