Semi Tire Flies into Construction Truck!
In a dramatic incident captured on dashcam and shared by the Winnipeg Police Service, a semi-truck lost a wheel on a busy highway. The video, shared on Facebook, shows the construction truck rocking after being struck by the tire. Then, the tire flies into view and bounces into the highway. Thankfully it didn’t hit any moving vehicles, and no one was hurt.
The Winnipeg Police Service shared the video as a stark reminder to all drivers—especially truckers—about the critical importance of vehicle maintenance. Loose wheels can result from various factors, including improper installation, worn parts, or failure to regularly check and tighten lug nuts.

In their Facebook post, the Winnipeg Police Service wrote, “A Close Call That Could Have Been Tragic … In the blink of an eye, a semi-trailer wheel detaches, catapulting into a stationary construction truck before bouncing back onto the road in a reduced-speed construction zone on the south perimeter. The impact is so powerful that it visibly shakes the camera capturing the scene. Now, imagine that wheel hitting a nearby worker instead of the truck.
This video is a stark reminder of the importance of vehicle safety and the critical work done by our Vehicle Inspection Section to keep our roads safe. But there’s more at stake — these construction zones are not just sites of roadwork but someone’s workplace. Workers put their lives on the line daily to improve our roads. Let’s not make their job more dangerous than it already is. Please, motorists, ensure your vehicles are roadworthy, and most importantly, #JustSlowDown. Lives depend on it.”
