Truck Driver Rescues Lost Toddler

Truck Driver Rescues Lost Toddler!

When a trucker was driving early one morning this November, he noticed something that didn’t belong in the middle of the road…

According to KMTV Omaha News, Ed Coleman, a Sapp Brothers driver, was headed through Papillion, Nebraska when he spotted a young child standing alone in the rain on a median at a busy intersection. Dashcam video shows the little boy, believed to be around 3 years old, barely visible in the darkness and soaked from the weather.

Coleman immediately turned his truck around and pulled over. Coleman wasn’t about to just stand by. He wrapped the child up in a blanket, put him in his truck to get him warm and dry, and called police to report the situation. On the phone with authorities, he described what he saw: “And there’s this little boy, he can’t be much older than 3 years old just standing in the middle of the road.”

While they waited for officers to arrive, Coleman kept the boy calm and occupied — even letting him watch a movie on his phone so he didn’t get scared in the unfamiliar surroundings. The child also had a small bag with pull-ups and clothes, though it’s not clear how it got there or why he was alone.

Police showed up and took over, and about an hour later, they called Coleman to let him know the boy had been reunited with his parents and was safe. What led to the toddler being alone on a busy road remains unclear, but Coleman’s quick thinking and willingness to stop kept the child away from a dangerous situation.
