Every trucker appreciates a good truck stop, and we all have our favorites. Every good truck stop has to have decent parking, clean showers, hot food, and coffee to make a long day behind the wheel a whole lot better. Now drivers rolling through Tennessee on I-65 have a brand-new place to check out.
Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop has officially opened in Cornersville, Tennessee, just off Exit 22 about an hour south of Nashville. According to ABC News, the new travel center was built with both travelers and truckers in mind, offering truck parking, fuel, a truckers’ lounge, restaurant, coffee shop, general store, dog park, EV chargers, and plenty of Dolly Parton-themed decor. What made the grand opening even cooler was who showed up…
Dolly Parton made a surprise appearance to officially open the travel stop, marking one of her first public appearances since announcing she was stepping back from several events while dealing with ongoing health issues. Wearing a pink-and-blue western outfit and a name tag that simply read “Dolly,” she greeted fans before cutting the ribbon.
She also got a laugh from the crowd with a playful jab at Buc-ee’s.
“I’m sure some of you are wondering why I wanted a truck stop,” she said. “Well… I couldn’t leave it to beavers.”
The crowd laughed as Dolly clarified she wasn’t trying to compete with anyone. Instead, she said she wanted to create a place where anyone on the road—whether you’re hauling freight, hauling your family, or just passing through—could stop, relax, and find everything they need.
If you find yourself running I-65 through Tennessee, you may want to add this one to your list of places to stop. Between the truck parking, food, and all the Dolly flair, it definitely isn’t your average travel center.
