Bee-ware: Semi Hauling Millions of Bees Overturns in Washington!
According to CBS News, a semi truck hauling over 70,000 pounds of bee hives rolled over on May 30 in Whatcom County, Washington. The accident occured around 4 a.m. and unleashed an estimated 14 million honeybees. The crash stopped traffic on the road for nearly 24 hours while authorities and more than two dozen beekeepers worked to contain the swarming insects. No injuries were reported, but folks in the area were warned to stay clear—especially anyone allergic to stings.

The hives broke open around 9 a.m., setting the bees loose. Originally, officials thought 250 million bees had escaped, but a beekeeper on scene later corrected it to around 14 million. The rescue team worked to recover and restore as many hives as possible, helping the bees re-hive and reunite with their queen. By the next morning, most of the bees had returned, and the road reopened.
