Amtrak Train Collides with Semi Truck!
According to Yahoo, the accident happened in Auburn, Washington. The crash occurred around 10:18 a.m. local time, when two truck drivers, Chris B. and Arkeen Young, found their rig stranded on train tracks due to confusing GPS directions and heavy fog.
The Incident
After they followed their GPS down a wrong turn, the drivers ended up on the tracks, blocked by another semi in front of them. They tried to back up, but quickly realized a train was bearing down on them. “We couldn’t really tell how fast it was coming…I don’t know how fast, I just know trains be moving,” Chris B. recounted.
With mere seconds to act, the two men abandoned their truck. “I’m like, yo, forget the truck, man,” Chris B. told Young. Young managed to leap from the cab just before the Amtrak train collided with the vehicle, resulting in a fiery explosion. The truck’s engine was thrown nearly 30 feet from the impact, leaving the cab in ruins. “If he would have stayed on the truck for more than five seconds, it would have been over with.”
Just after the two men leapt to safety, the Amtrak train smashed into the truck, reportedly sending the engine 30 feet ahead in the wreckage.

The Aftermath
The 150 passenger train sustained minimal damage, and no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew. Witnesses on board described the collision as a sudden jolt. Passenger Sam Koek stated, “It felt like the chair jumped forward. We stopped and then it jolted again. The entire driver’s side of the truck was just ripped out of it,” he said of the damage. “It was completely on its side, shattered, there were wires sticking out of, like, the glove compartment.”
The crash delayed the train’s journey to Tacoma by over two hours and disrupted other Amtrak routes for the rest of the day. Services returned to normal on Jan 19.
